Heart Failure
From Nutrition Health
Heart Failure is a heart disease caused by weakening of the heart muscle, so that the blood that is pumped is less than the blood that is received. As such, the fluid will accumulate and the heart will become swollen. Heart failure can affect either the left or the right side of the heart. When the damage occurs in the left heart, the blood will accumulate in the lungs, causing wheezing and shortness of breath, fatigue, and dry cough when patient is lying down. When damage is on the right side, the blood will collect in the legs and liver and cause swollen feet, swollen neck veins, pain below the ribs area, fatigue, and lethargy.
Heart failure patients tend to have low levels of Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) in their cells. As such, the function of mitochondria, the part of the cell where the energy for the muscle is created, becomes abnormal. The best treatment for heart failure is to supply the correct amount of CoQ10 into mitochondria so that the function of heart muscle is normalised1,2. This approach works better than using prescribed medication as medication doesn't solve the root of the "weakness". Heart failure is usually completely resolve when the patients begin taking optimal level of CoQ10. Supplementation with CoQ10 is also beneficial for healthy people to prevent heart failure.
